This is a pretty cool, simple little home decor idea, although I wonder about its practicality. Honeycomb folding paper lampshades
Basically this is a big piece of folded, indented, translucent paper. The paper is folded down flat, but when you open it up, it turns into a nice big lamp.
When you place a tiny light inside, you get an illuminated piece which is truly unique.
As you can see, the resulting light is a gentle amber glow. Unlike some lamps, which glare right in your eyes if you sit below the lampshade, these have absolutely no glare from any angle.
The resulting lamp is also extremely lightweight. As you can see in the picture above, these lamps are so light they were actually suspended from the cieling to create a truly unique effect.
The gentle light produced from these lamps is very romantic, and can be a great way to turn a normal living room into an intimate snuggle den.
They also create a very relaxed atmosphere, which makes them perfect for a bedroom, or conversation area. Imagine sitting in their amber glow, sipping on a glass of wine, and listening to some smooth jazz.
Since they aren’t that expensive, (less than $40 a piece at the time of this writing) they are a great, subdued way, to add a truly unique conversation piece to your home.
The only drawback I can see, is that they are paper, and so you have to be careful about not putting too bright of a light in them, or leaving them lit up, unattended, for too long. They may be a fire hazard. I am going to email the manufacturer and see if they have taken any safety precautions with them. I will post the results here.
These lamp shades are available at this website genr8.biz, for $39.95 They are a pretty innovative home decor company, and I am looking forward to reviewing a lot more of there products here.
